If you've started using our
Search widget, you might have encountered a request for your Search Engine ID and API key. In this article, we will guide you through the process of generating your Search Engine ID and creating your API key. Rest assured, this process will only take a few minutes of your time. Once you have completed this steps, you will be ready to fully utilize our Search widget.
1. To begin, the first step is to create your search engine at
Google Programmable Search Engine. To accomplish this, simply click on the "Get Started" button.
2. On the control panel, we have several options to customize our search engine. We can give it a name of our liking. We can also set it to search specific sites (or site) or to search the entire internet. We can also choose to search for images by checking the “Image search” toggle button. If we want, we can choose to have the SafeSearch option on.
After filling in the required inputs, we check the “I’m not a robot” captcha and then click on “Create” to get our programmable search engine.
3. In order to obtain the ID for our programmable search engine, we navigate to the customization options by clicking on "Customize." This action directs us to a dashboard similar to the one depicted below. Within the "Overview" section, we can easily locate the "Search engine ID." To conveniently copy it, a single click of a button is all it takes to save it to our clipboard.
4. The last step involves copying the Search Engine ID that you generated and pasting it into the designated field labeled "CSE ID" within the widget settings.
How to get Search API Key
I- Create API Key
2. A popup window will appear where you will need to input a new project name and then proceed by clicking on "Next."
3. A new popup window will appear where you can copy your API key to paste it to the widget.
4. Next, proceed to copy the API key and paste it into the designated field labeled "API Key."
II- Restrict your API Key
To restrict your API key, you can follow these steps:
2. Select the project that corresponds to your API key.
3. On the left sidebar, click on "Credentials."
4. Locate your API key and click on its name to access its details.
5. Under the "Key restrictions" section, select the type of restriction you want to apply (e.g., HTTP referrers, IP addresses).
6. Configure the specific restrictions according to your needs.
7. Save the changes.
That's it! You have successfully completed the necessary steps to set up your Search widget. Now you can enjoy using it to enhance your search experience.
